ABSTRACT

HENRY RADCLIFFE-CROCKER was born in Brighton in 1845, and began his medical training in a northern English colliery district in the old fashioned manner of apprenticeship. Later entering the University College Hospital in London he was graduated in 1875 with many scholastic honors. His resident training was done at the Brompton Hospital, and the University College Hospital. It was Tilbury Fox who influenced Crocker to turn his attention exclusively to dermatology, and with the sudden death of the former in 1879, Crocker was elected to the post of Physician to the University College Hospital at the early age of 43, a post he held until his death.
