ABSTRACT
JOHN ADDISON FORDYCE was born in Guernsy County, Ohio, February 16, 1858. After a common school education he did his undergraduate work at Adrian College, received his M.D. in 1881 from Northwestern University Medical College, and interned at Cook County Hospital (Chicago). After three years in general practice he journeyed to Europe and studied in the great medical centers of Vienna, Berlin and Paris, devoting most of his time to the study of dermatology, chiefly under Kaposi in Vienna.
