ABSTRACT
ANTONIN PONCET was born March 28, 1849, in Saint-Trivier-sur-Moignans. An Interne des Hôpitaux in 1869, he became a chief in the clinic of Desgranges in Lyon in 1874. His great talent for surgery soon became manifest, and at the early age of 34 he was named Professor of operative medicine in the medical school at Lyon. He held the position of surgeon-major at l’Hôtel Dieu de Lyon until his death September 17, 1913.
