ABSTRACT

EDVARD EHLERS was born in Copenhagen, March 26, 1863. The son of the mayor of that city, he had all the advantages of money and position. After an early and thorough classical education he turned to medicine and took his medical degree in 1891, entitling his thesis, Extirpation of the Primary Lesion of Syphilis. On completion of a period of dermatologic study in Berlin, Breslau, Vienna, and Paris, he began practice in Copenhagen. From 1906 to 1911 he was Chief of the poly clinic for skin diseases in the Fredericks Hospital, and from 1911 to 1932 he directed the special service at the Kommunhospitalet in Copenhagen. He died in 1937.
