ABSTRACT

MARTIN FEENEY ENGMAN was born in New Orleans on August 20, 1869. After study at the Universities of Kentucky and Virginia, he received his M.D. from New York University in 1891. Following this he did postgraduate work in London, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg and Heidelburg, and in 1894 was appointed lecturer in Dermatology at the New York Postgraduate School. He later moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he began practicing in 1897. He was appointed Clinical Professor of medicine (dermatology) at Washington University in 1905, later holding an emeritus title. His other major appointment was that of Chief of Staff at Bernard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital in St. Louis.
