ABSTRACT
LOUIS QUEYRAT was born in 1856, in France, in the Department of Creuse. The son of a country physician, he received an intensive and well rounded medical education in Paris before turning to dermatology as a specialty. In 1898 he joined the staff of the Ricord Hospital in Paris (Cochin-annexe), and was so successful in renovating the clinic of that hospital that it became a leading dermatologic center. He remained there until his retirement in 1923.
