ABSTRACT

RICHARD LIGHTBURN SUTTON was born in Rockport, Missouri, on July 9, 1878. After receiving an M.D. both from the University Medical College in Kansas City and from George Washington University, he took postgraduate training in London, Paris, Hamburg and Berlin. He returned to Kansas City where he was successively assistant, associate and full Professor of Dermatology, at the University Medical College during the period from 1907 to 1912. Following this, he held similar appointments at the University of Kansas. In 1940, an Emeritus Professor, he retired from practice to live in McAllen, Texas. During the last two years of his life he suffered through six major operations. On May 18, 1952 his death came as a result of a coronary occlusion.
