ABSTRACT
GUSTAV RIEHL was born in Vienna on February 10, 1855. He studied in Vienna, and received his doctorate in medicine in 1879. A student and assistant of Kaposi for several years, he became Professor of Dermatology in Leipzig in 1896. In 1902 he returned to Vienna as Kaposi’s successor.
