ABSTRACT

MARION BALDUR SULZBERGER was born March 12, 1895, in New York City. His medical education at the University of Zurich, Switzerland was followed by postgraduate training under Bloch and Jadassohn. From 1929 to 1947 he was Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the New York Post Graduate Medical School of Columbia. In 1947 he became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Syphilology, and Director of the New York Skin and Cancer Unit, affiliated with New York University and the Bellevue Medical Center. In 1960 he “retired” to be Professor at the University of California (San Francisco) until 1975. No one in American Dermatology has ever matched his achievements, as evidenced by his honorary membership in 44 foreign societies. He died on November 24, 1983.
