ABSTRACT
Focusing specifically on knowledge and values associated with multilingual writers and writing, this chapter examines how what young authors and their teachers value shapes the roles multiple languages play in thinking and expression in elementary classrooms. I use classroom vignettes to animate the passion and intentionality with which young writers have learned to make use of all of their linguistic resources as they meet the many purposes of writing as well as their visions for themselves and the world.
