The doctrine of nationalism present in extreme-right discourse is exclusive… and the definition of a ‘true Frenchman’ is determined biologically and racially… From Boulangism onwards, this form of nationalism became the doctrine of a new counter-revolutionary and populist extreme right which differed from the classic proponents of nineteenth-century counter-revolution by not necessarily advocating the restoration of the monarchy.1
