ABSTRACT

Without exception, the lack of data record accuracy is either a prime or contributing factor of every failed implementation. If data are inaccurate, then users will not trust the information from the system. When data are not trusted, then data are not maintained since people don’t bother with something they do not use. Once the users of the system can no longer trust the data contained within the system, they begin to second-guess the information coming from the formal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The informal system is always standing by and ready to take over. This unfortunately is a very insidious process that can sneak up on the company until the overall data from the ERP system that may have cost millions to purchase and install is absolutely worthless. The company must be ever vigilant on the accuracy of its data records.
