ABSTRACT
In 1985 several ferredoxins and other chromophoric proteins from the halophilic phototrophic bacterium
Ectothiorhodospira halophila
were isolated.
One of the “other chromophoric proteins” was yellow and was named “photoactive yellow protein” in a subsequent study.
