ABSTRACT
After the policy consensus over the post-war boom broke down, the dominant strategies for combating poverty and social exclusion changed dramatically. In this chapter, we outline the subsequent policy consensus for Britain; similar changes can be found in other countries, though conditioned by their particular historical and contemporary class relations (section 7.4).
