The experience of moving to a new city with a far from positive reputation might be considered depressing, and perhaps one based more on necessity than on choice. Why would one want to leave apparently cosy old towns and cities, or even the countryside, to live in the cold suburban city that Milton Keynes was widely touted as? And would it not have been a grim experience, settling into this bleak new city?
