ABSTRACT

Overall the season was a successful, productive experience with many positive examples of how the Sport Education design for the unit contributed to improved knowledge and understanding of swimming. One of the most rewarding experiences was watching the coaches living up to the expectations that had been set for them, with notable improvements seen through the season in their abilities and in the skills, knowledge and understanding of their teams. As a beginning teacher Emily found it invigorating to watch the boys improve within their teams and clearly enjoy working together. The impression was that the team mattered to them and that they were more than willing to work hard towards the formal competitions.
