ABSTRACT
One of the main reasons why this form of home improvement became so popular in the early 1970s was certainly the advent of central heating. No longer did the family have to huddle together in one room to keep warm. With a centrally heated house all rooms became inviting and so if the wall between the lounge and dining room was removed, a feeling of space in one large living room could be achieved.
