ABSTRACT

Although digital certificates have been discussed at length in previous chapters, how to use them specifically has not. The information in this chapter covers some of the more common things you might want to do with your personal digital certificate and, more specifically, how to use it.

The first step to securing your e-mail messages is to sign them using your personal digital certificate. Your digital signature enables recipients to verify that you actually sent the message and that the message was not altered during transmission.
