Rubber wastes, especially worn-out tires, occupy the lion’s share among the nonbiodegradable waste materials. But the technological advance for a safe disposal and effective reuse of rubber wastes is still in its infancy. Rubber compounds with inferior mechanical properties are produced by reclaiming methods, which consist of the expensive steps of comminution and highpressure digestion in the presence of chemicals. The incineration method for energy recovery produces environmental pollution. Pyrolysis yields materials of poor quality.
