ABSTRACT
The previous chapter introduced the notion of data mining for counterterrorism. As we have stated, we are not saying that data mining and Web data mining are going to solve all the problems. Nevertheless, data mining is intended to often previously unknown extract patterns and trends. This capability is important for detecting and preventing acts of terrorism. The challenge is to develop good data mining tools for this purpose.
