ABSTRACT

On the anonymous review by Ya.B.Zeldovich’s: Higher Mathematics for Beginners. In works sent for review to the editorial board of a journal, the names of the authors

are always indicated. Deviation from this rule is incomprehensible and, I believe, inadmissible. Does this mean that an anonymous review seems to represent the views of the editors? I have been an editor of the journal since prehistoric times (when Pridkadnaya Matematika i Mekhanika was published by the Leningrad Mechanics Society starting in 1929), and I don’t recall any precedents for this; perhaps there weren’t any.
