ABSTRACT

I was acquainted with Yakov Borisovich for just under 40 years. However, we had neither any collaborative work, nor any kind of close personal relations. Therefore, it is better if I don’t try to compete with the reminiscences of his friends, students, and colleagues. At the same time, we were linked by our many mutual scientific interests in widely varying areas of physics and cosmic physics (a fact noted by YaB himself at a seminar at the Lebedev Physical Institute on the day of my anniversary). Accordingly, there were many scientific contacts between us-at YaB’s home, at the Lebedev Physical Institute, at various seminars and conferences. For this reason, I also have some memories. In these notes, I’ll try, without pretensions to generalization, to write about several characteristic episodes of our relations, hoping to supplement or reinforce the image of YaB that has formed in the reader of this collection.
