Ya.B.Zeldovich and Large-scale Structure: The Impact in the United States

Pursuing this interest led into numerical models for structure formation. Due to the time lag between publications in our countries, I began work which was nearly identical to Doroshkevich et al. (1980). This important paper showed that a cellular structure, not (as many had assumed) isolated ‘pancakes,’ are a natural outcome of the kind of picture of galaxy formation presented by Zeldovich.
