ABSTRACT
Wireless communication networks have a long history. In 1921, for example, the U.S. Army Signal Corps received authorization to establish the War Department Radio Net,
a nationwide radiotelegraphic network that, by 1925, numbered 164 stations, stretched to Alaska, and was called “the largest and most comprehensive radio net of its kind in the world today.”
