ABSTRACT

This chapter will therefore focus on four interrelated aspects of the Kosovo crisis and its aftermath. Firstly, a brief assessment of events leading up to the Rambouillet process which culminated in the Rambouillet Draft Interim Agreement. Secondly, an assessment of the alterations to the Rambouillet text following the air war. Thirdly, although the Rambouillet agreement is not currently undergoing implementation as foreseen by its drafters, an investigation of some of the problems inherent in the text which have the capacity to give rise to significant barriers to the peacebuilding process in Kosovo. Finally, an analysis of the discursive constructions that have characterized the response of the international community to the Kosovo crisis.
