ABSTRACT

Swiss and European studies have shown that the provision of harm reduction facilities to the users of illegal drugs has largely positive effects. Harm reduction facilities are central to HIV prevention among injecting drug users and make a significant contribution to the improvement of their state of health as well as their social situation (Hausser et al., 1991; Dubois-Arber et al., 1994; Cattaneo et al., 1993; Ackermann-Liebrich and Coda, 1996; Gervasoni et al., 1998).
