ABSTRACT

Nerve entrapment syndromes (NES) are common in musicians. However, their incidence varies according to the medical speciality of the reporting authors (Winspur 2002). These include 29% (Lederman 1989) to 48% (Charness 1992) of instrumentalists with a musculoskeletal disorder consulting in a Musician’s Clinic run by a neurologist, 15% by an orthopaedist (Amadio and Russotti 1990) and even less by a rheumatologist (Wynn Parry 1998).
