ABSTRACT
Rheumatoid arthritis is the source of frequent finger deformities. The basic pathology is hypertrophy of synovium. Within the joint, it stretches the supporting structures, invades the subchondral bone and destroys the articular surfaces. On tendons, it forms nodules that are invasive and lead to a tendon rupture.
