ABSTRACT

Extensor tendon lesions are wrongly considered as minor injuries, particularly on the dorsal part of the finger. Because of their subcutaneous position extensor tendons are particularly vulnerable in injuries of the dorsum of the hand. Failure to recognize these injuries, following a hasty clinical examination or an inappropriate treatment can lead to serious functional sequelae-compromising the function of the entire hand and necessitating difficult revisional surgery, long rehabilitation sessions and giving rise to important social and professional consequential effects.
