ABSTRACT
Arterial thrombi consist of platelet aggregates held together by small amounts of fibrin, so medications that act on platelet activation and aggregation, on fibrin formation resulting from activation of the coagulation pathway, or on fibrin degradation and fibrinolysis should be effective in the treatment and prevention of early recurrences in acute ischemic stroke.
