ABSTRACT

The basic elements of complex function theory, used in fracture mechanics, are presented in Muskhelishvili’s fundamental monograph [8.1].

We denote by

z = x+ iy and z = x− iy, i = √−1, (8.1.1) a complex variable and its conjugate in the complex plan C, x and y are real variables, representing the real and imaginary parts of z.
