ABSTRACT
This chapter presents two practical examples of the general impasse that reductionism is experiencing when attempting to deal with the issue of sustainability. The goal of this section is to provide a narrative and introduce basic issues; technical explanations and a more detailed analysis are provided in the next two chapters.
