Introduction

This book defends Critical Realism, a version of the causal theory of perception. In developing the Critical Realist account, I aim to show that it provides the metaphysical analysis of perception best able to make sense of a whole range of problematic perceptual phenomena. These include both traditional puzzles arising from perception, and also more recent discoveries in cognitive science about the complex nature of attention.
