ABSTRACT

The wisdom of modern science segregates subject and object and grasps the latter by structuralization through the means of logos’ – universal, unitary and objective language. Wisdom in sport, on the other hand, results from an active-passive interaction between subject and object. And it grasps the totality of the object without regarding the relations between various parts. These points indicate, so to speak, a mode of physical cognition. This chapter, positing that wisdom in sport is part of a wisdom that has been buried in the process of modernization, explains the characteristics of this kind of wisdom and enquires into its importance.
