ABSTRACT
As the title suggests, the structure of each movement of Brahms’s works for ensembles is analyzed, emphasizing the subjects and their reappearances, as well as Brahms’s handling of rhythm and meter. Like Evans’s Handbook to the Vocal Works (no. 768), this is intended as an introduction to the music of Brahms.
