ABSTRACT
One way to end a book is gently: to step back and reveal its thematic unity by pursuing, in a general way, threads linking the various topics covered. I do this in what follows, and then discuss a possible tension between the sort of anti-instrumentalism defended in the first part of the book (Parts I and II) with the views of reference developed and defended in the second (Part III, especially).
