ABSTRACT
Injury to the cord can be expected in 1-3% of major trauma victims; the risk is approximately 8% if the victim is ejected from a vehicle. The majority of spinal injuries (55%) involve the cervical region. In adults, the commonest sites are C5/C6 and T12/L1.
