THE PROCESS ere are so many instructions available to you on the web that it is important to decide which is the best way to work for you. I have struggled for years to gure out which way works for me. My learning curve with Photoshop took me on a long journey. e process in this book has been tested over and over and updated by myself and my students. If you feel you need to use a densitometer and be more scientic, then be my guest and look at books that are written solely on making digital negatives. You can be as technical as you want – or not.

Also included in this chapter are other techniques for making negatives such as paper negatives using oil, wax, contact print paper, acrylic gel medium and packing tape. Each technique will give you a unique outcome.
