ABSTRACT
The Nuffield funded Thinking Together project enabled us to see if this applied to other maths concepts. Six classes of 9-year-old children undertook the Talk Lessons designed to promote the use of Exploratory Talk before working in groups at computers, using software provided free to schools as part of the National Numeracy Strategy. Other software provided a simple co-ordinates activity, a magic-squares activity and sorting activities using numbers and shapes.
