ABSTRACT
Contrast in the refractive index is the dominant cause of diffraction of light from holograms in photorefractive materials. In photorefractive polymer composites this refractive index contrast depends on the electric space-charge field pattern. This electric field pattern controls the refractive index through the electro-optic effect.
