ABSTRACT

The Victim and the Interview The difficulties that investigators encounter while investigating sex crimes are quite different from those involved with any other criminal investigation. Sexual assault victims suffer from a unique array of problems and are often in a fragile state when they encounter the police. It is imperative that investigators be educated to understand the emotional trauma that victims suffer in order to adjust their investigation to meet the needs of victims effectively and create a productive atmosphere — an atmosphere that not only helps the healing process of the victim but produces positive investigative results.
