ABSTRACT

The design of an effective warning sign or label is a complex and difficult task. For the working professional in ergonomics, it can be perplexing to decipher the vast amount of research that has been, and is being, performed in the field, as well as the regulations and standards that affect the design and use of warning signs or labels. The purpose of this chapter is to provide industrial professionals with a succinct, but comprehensible, overview of the design of warning signs and labels for application in their own work environment.
