ABSTRACT
The trafficking and sale of human beings is a modern form of slavery that is practised all over the world. Different types of trafficking exist. While most cases relate to activities such as debt bondage, forced prostitution and pornography, or exploitation of migrant workers, others – for example, forced marriages, sale of wives and illegal inter-country adoptions – are also considered contemporary slavery (UN Commission on Human Rights 2000a).
