ABSTRACT
We can end this book on a rather more hopeful note than that of the first edition. Although we are only at the beginning of rethinking children’s care and there is a very long way to go before we approach the range and quality of early education that we see in other parts of Europe, the government is clearly trying and deserves credit for it.
