ABSTRACT

In English, if you want to move something somewhere, the verb ‘to put’ is used: ‘put the book on the table’, ‘put the bottle in the fridge’, ‘put your coat in the cloakroom’ . In Russian, as with verbs indicating location (see Unit 27), different verbs are used to indicate in what position (lying, standing or hanging) the object ends up:
