ABSTRACT

Children are constantly moving between two very different worlds: home and school. For the child with fragile X syndrome, transition, the change between different activities is difficult. Often the greatest transitions in their lives are those between home and school. If school and home work together effectively, they can minimise the stresses of these transitions and make a real difference to the child’s life. In this chapter I hope to suggest how this can be done. All the suggestions are simple, good teaching practices, easy to apply, and often applicable to the whole class.
