ABSTRACT

This chapter draws from seven articles commissioned to accompany the UK research work, and published in a special issue of Built Environment (Vol. 29, No. 4) focusing on ‘Measuring quality in planning-an international review’. The experiences draw from, and reflect on, developing practice in Australia, Belgium, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. More detail on the approaches taken in each country is outlined in a series of boxes distributed throughout this chapter, while the key lessons are structured under a series of headings reflecting the brief developed for the original contributors.
