ABSTRACT

It has been estimated that by the year 2010, the number of mobile phone users will be around 2.2 billion (Telecompetition Inc. 2001). The increasing use of mobile phones and the increasing amount of mobile phone users has lead to concerns that exposure to electromagnetic (EM) waves emitted by the phones may lead to adverse health effects. This concern is further magnified by the fact that the most common human exposure is to the head of the handset user. In addition, even the low-level (whole-body) exposure from mobile phone base stations emissions has raised public concern about a possible health risk.
