ABSTRACT
You have come through your training year vastly more skilled and more knowledgeable about teaching. Your motivation remains intact even if you have taken some knocks along the way. You are aware of your strengths but know there are several areas to work on. This chapter takes you through your first year of teaching. This could be a year to look back on with a sense of achievement, the next step on the way to becoming a confident and expert teacher. Alternatively, an unhappy first year might cloud your attitude to teaching, dent your confidence and self-esteem and lead you to look for a way out of the profession.
