ABSTRACT

Another indicator of Internet penetration is the abundance of domain names hosted in a country. Exhibit 18.2 shows the distribution of domain names across different countries and territories of the world in 2013. The US, with over 80 million domain names, accounts for 63 percent of the world’s total. The largest non-US domain name hosts are China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, and Japan, as shown in the pie chart on the right side of the exhibit.
